I returned to PBS.org after a while working on my tech issues to find this message
I had paused in the midst of reading Mark Glaser‘s Media Shift blog on PBS.org to deal with some ongoing nightmares which seemed to intensify over the past few days. My every move on the computer was being thwarted!
iTunes 9.0.1 seems to have been the culprit on my old G3 Mac (bought a week or two before the G4/5s came out naturally). I had recently tried out Spotify and at first thought that it was the reason iTunes wasn’t launching or playing smoothly. I’d heard about it from @danlanois himself — it had to work, and Spotify ran fine.
Unable to get iTunes to work again so my immediate intuition was that it was due to Spotify. After doing some further research, however, I decided to fix iTunes via the downgrade, and it has worked well since.
Only problem is that the external hard drive seems to be dead or thoroughly confused to the point I will be lucky to restore/erase it. It deserves to be replaced, being only 5 months old!
