Dock Ellis’ immortal performance while on acid is one of the great moments in baseball history. While we mourn the former Yankee, who recently died way too young, we should also mention that he got sober and spent the last years of his life as a rehab counselor.
I’m thankful to my friends Peter Rauh, Hugh Surratt, Melle Karakawa, Steve Bloom and Tim Ziegler who sent it my way. I love the realism of the KDKA broadcast including the announcer with his little shaker.
