Rival Schools' new lp "Pedals" includes multiple combo packages (Photo Finish Records)
Rival Schools, the band fronted by former Quicksand leader Walter Schriefels, recently reappeared after a few years dormant. A few days ago, the band announced their new album would be called “Pedals” in a group email, and detailed how their new content will roll out to fans. It shows a new business perspective from the former major label artists, who have always had extremely dedicated fans who feel a personal connection with them.
In the past, college radio would be an essential part of the announcement and exposure of new music, but with the new album, Rival Schools seem to be relying on Twitter to deliver the message. And most of the message is about the various ways the music will be available, and price points, with hardly any information about the aesthetics (we are able to listen however).

Seems to me they should be charging more for the “Super Deluxe Bundle,” but they know their audience and don’t want to milk the kids (who are now about 40). The $28 limited edition seems like the most desirable/valuable item.
