One of the great triumphs Earbender generated on the Playing for Change tour was a booking on WXPN‘s immensely popular and influential syndicated daily program, The World Cafe with David Dye. This episode will be broadcast nationally on December 23. On it, the group performs “A Change is Gonna Come,” “Stand By Me” and Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason.”

Primary to my pitch was reducing the message of the tour, tv special, YouTube videos and “phenomenon” into digestible form: who was in the band, what songs they are singing and when they will be in town. All the content that wasn’t audio was extraneous to the radio version of the project: artists and songs.

Thanks to WXPN’s Dan Reed and Bruce Warren for making this visit a reality!

Please join Playing for Change in the World Cafe studio on the next page to see the guys doing a jazz-fusion workout led by the great guitarist Louis Mhlanga.
