Willie Nelson’s big event is tomorrow, and I’m happy to see that Horizon Dairy retuns as the largest sponsor at Farm Aid 2009. It seems like every year, the organic food companies that sponsor the event get bigger and more prominent. Although farm policy is too complex to unravel, growing organic and using local product has emerged as Farm Aid’s main motto in the past few events and it seems to be connecting better. It’s 25 years later and organic is good marketing. It makes Farm Aid’s message more digestible.
Willie visited with Wolf Blitzer and talked about the anthem he and Bob Dylan wrote about the farmers, “Heartland.” The interview/performance follows on the next page.
