Is it required that women skiers and snowboarders have awesome names?

Picabo Street is still my favorite (skis, came back from injury, etc.), but Torah Bright (center) and Hannah Teter (right) continue the tradition nicely — they were the gold and silver winners, respectively, at the Winter X Games this week.

Maybe their parents should get credit but I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions: I have read that Picabo named herself when she was about three years old.

This must have to do with Vermont and the other skiing states being so hippie-friendly.

On the marketing end, the Taco Bell promotion “Feed the Beat” and another interesting page I found on ESPN of “Broadcast Music” caught my attention. While the Feed the Beat schedule page had hardly anything on it, the Broadcast Music page had a big picture of our old friend Peter Gabriel (I hope to hear him at some point).

A summary page for Feed the Beat shows event highlights with performance clips mixed in. There’s room for improvement, but I would send a band to perform at the X Games. It seems like a good mix of having an audience in Aspen see the artist and the re-purposed video online. Plenty of “networking” opportunity too. What if the Flying Tomato glances at your artist?
