Willie Nelson‘s annual concert on behalf of family farmers is taking place this year at its first Major League ballpark, the Brewers’ Miller Park in Milwaukee.  Thanks to our friends at Sirius XM’s channel “Willie’s Place,” we can all hear the show today! The broadcast starts at 2pm eastern, and non-subscribers are invited to tune in via this special offer.

YouTube’s Farm Aid channel will carry the concert live starting at 6pm eastern!

Farm Aid is a great event to attend but can also be a bit exhausting because it usually goes for 10-12 hours. Today’s show has a chance to be the first indoor farm aid, since Miller Park has a retractable roof.   Farmers do like rain, but not during the big show!  Farm Aid also features speakers from the political arena and experts from the organic and home grown food movement. This is the 25th edition and America is just getting rolling with local, chemical-free, organic food.   Willie and his cohorts John Mellencamp and Neil Young have been pumping this idea for quite some time already.

I wonder what other progressive ideas they might have for the future of the planet. In the past few years, BioWillie and Neil Young’s electric car (the “LincVolt”) indicate that these geniuses are taking on transportation/energy next!

Dave Matthews joined the board a few years ago and as the youngest member of the court, will probably carry the idea far into the future.  Matthews looks like he has about 40 Farm Aids left in him!   The line up of the show usually includes a hot country artist (Jamey Johnson), at least one cool alternative band (Band of Horses) and an assemblage of “Willie acolytes” (Norah Jones, Jeff Tweedy, Blackwood Brothers).  According to my sources, we will probably be treated to a few musical turns in the road from “The Man from Louisiana,” Doug Kershaw.
