WNCW, Spindale, based at Isothermal Community College, is one of those community stations that became “adult/triple a” – focused in the 90s. Through savvy programming and its location near a big city, Charlotte, WNCW has created a sizable audience and influence, including buying a signal in Asheville a few years ago. The nighttime programming, is run by Joe Kendrick, and is a bit more college/alternative/indie. Joe also does a talk show about music as a podcast, What it Is, and has his own playlist, shown below.
